Why The Name Kids Building Selves

What’s in a name is a saying we’ve probably all heard.  I had a vision as to what I wanted to achieve with my business.  I wanted or more like needed to work with kids who are like I was as a kid. I struggled A LOT and as far back as I can remember, didn’t think I was smart or could do anything right.  I didn’t know what was wrong with me and always had a teacher or a parent on my case.  I’m old enough where many of these difficulties weren’t addressed as they are now and fell through the cracks.

It’s so important how a child feels about him or herself. If they have no self-confidence it changes what they’ll try and how hard they’ll try.  If they have difficulties with Executive Functions they truly believe they are trying REALLY hard but aren’t really making any headway, just like I did.

I decided that I wanted to make sure that NO child felt like I did and I’d help children learn how they could feel better about themselves.  The name finally came to me one night and with the use of my initials, KBS.

It would also explain what I wanted to do; have children understand their difficulties, learn strategies that would help them be the best they could be and build their confidence, understanding and abilities.
